my regulator

Is a tx 40 which is out of production – it’s 9 yers old and still working perfect

I was speaking with a diving friend today, and I was realizing that my best dives are not defined by what I see underwater, but it’s defined by my social interaction with my diving partner or group under water, but also in the surface and in the preparation before going in.. The feelings after a dive are more connected to the social aspect rather than the “objects” in form of type of fish, sharks, dolphins or what ever.. So just try remembering how important it is to be a nice, polite, friendly and open dive buddy and not someone who gets frustrated, are rushing to get in the waters. Because this is actually what defines the quality of the experience and how you remember it afterwards.

I have personal been diving in some of the most beautiful places in the world but two of my best dives was in 3 meter depth at a shore in Denmark with no fish bigger than 3 CM.. I also had great diving experiences with my father when I was 15 years old.

Now I usually do not get as excited when I dive because it’s normal for me. However I try to remember what I here have described as the essential of diving.. “the quality of a dive is defined by how you interact with your dive buddy before, during the dive and after the dive, and also how you interact the life you encounter under water”. So do not try rush into diving, thinking that you need to see this and this in the world, because what you need is properly right here in your local area.. It might not be as beautiful as the exotic places, but you can still have great dive experiences that you remember for the rest of your life..

Please invent this!

I would really appreciate if I could use a underwater box to my mobile phone so it could be used as an underwater camera. Now where Iphone and HTC are reaching 5-10 mega pixel, I think it would be usefull for underwater  use.. This way people could start to do underwater photography without having to buy an expensive camera first.

“We don’t know what to think yet because it hasn’t hit the Keys just yet, but it’s just a matter of time,” said Pfister, a dive instructor.

“If the reefs in the Keys get a coat of oil, it will be a catastrophe. There’s already stress from septic tank runoff and pollution. It could effectively really curtail diving in the Keys.”

Florida is the only continental state with an extensive array of coral reefs in shallow waters near its coasts.

Those reefs, stretching roughly from Stuart to the Dry Tortugas, attract scuba divers and snorkelers from all over the world.

The zen of diving

Have realized that diving is a very nice way to discover what the Buddhist call “the zen” – that means to forget time and place.. Sure you should remember to get up before you run out of air, but it’s a good practise just to be one with the nature. Try next time you dive not to judge what you see, but just let it be what it is, so when you see a fish, try not to put a label on it – in this way you will discover the “Zen” of diving..
